Great weekend in Arizona

Clark and Rachel made their life together a forever deal...
as they were sealed in the Mesa Temple.

None of the brothers could make it but they had a lot of support from other family members and friends. Thanks to everyone that came. We really appreciated it.
As always we had a really fun weekend with Clark & Rachel. Eating, thrift store shopping, eating, house hunting and eating. Clark's a great cook and made the best potato salad and another day he made Spanish rice. Then Karl got to do his favorite thing...Jammin' with Clark's Band...Rock & Roll.
On the way home we stopped at a park in Boulder City to stretch our legs. Good thing we didn't have to use the facilities...they were busy.

Saturday is a special day.
It's was just one of those crazy busy days. Too much to do! It was our last Saturday to get things ready before we head to Arizona and Florida. So we just had fun instead.
Most of the day was spent at a park at Karl's work picnic , where their band entertained...or at least played background music while everyone ate and visited.
The picnic was scheduled for a month earlier but it had to be postponed...so now we are in to those 105° days. We were kind of dreading the heat. But surprisingly it was not too bad in the shade with the breeze. .
Of course the band had to take a break and eat too! And to make it even better we won a $50.00 cash door prize
Then we had to think of costumes for Pam's (Karl's neice's ) 40th birthday party that evening. It was a Hollywood theme. Karl wanted to be Rocky but we lacked the boxing gloves. Here's what we came up with.

Any guesses? Clue: Karl was a celebrity on Hollywood Squares. Me? You guess...Anyway I won best male costume at the party and a Hollywood video gift certificate.
Now we still have to get all the "to-dos" list done before Friday and we both work everyday this week. Oh well... it's all good.

Gardening in Vegas
Gardening for us here in Las Vegas is alot different than it was in Pasco. It's kind of an expensive hobby.
The ground is so poor and so hard we decided to try "Grow Boxes" and self watering pots. Our lot is so small that the grow boxes are kind of in the middle of the lawn. The apricots on the tree in the back will be ripe in about a week.
The squash and pepper are doing great. The tomatoes vines look great but just won't set any fruit.
This poor little squash is trying to survive in the native soil...I think the pillbugs are having a feast every night...at least someone or something is enjoying it.
Herbs do really good here.
We both have some farmer in us, so we keep trying...but when it comes to growing a garden we sure miss Pasco!

Violet has arrive!

Violet made her appearance Sunday, June 1, 1:30 am.
7 lb 11 oz. 20 1/2 inches.
Mother and daughter are doing great.
Chad reported being very tired and hungry after the ordeal.
As for this Gramma & Grampa...we can hardly wait to get to Florida!

Brrr...It's Cold Outside!
Crazy weather in Las Vegas...In less than a week we've gone from 108° to the 50's. Right now it is warmer in Dupont WA. and Edmonton, AB, Canada than it is here in Las Vegas. The good news is the weather brought rain...The first hard rain our we've seen for about a year.

How's your food storage?
I've been teaching food storage classes once a month at the Bosch Kitchen Store. So I decided I'd better practice what I preach and get our food storage stocked up. I'm a huge advocate of beans as the storage item of choice...so we've got beans!

Girl time with my mom!
It's been a busy month but busy with fun times.
We got back from San Diego and Trace's wedding on Sunday night. Then Monday my mom flew in to spent the week with us. We had a great time D.I. shopping, sewing, going to the temple and visiting with my brother that lives on the other side of Vegas. One evening we took mom down to the Strip to the Belliago to see the flowers and the dancing water. There's a good story here...but we've been sworn to secrecy!
