I'm in Dupont, WA right now doing the Gramma thing with a couple of the cutest grandkids ever.

And we've been doing some fun stuff. Baking Halloween cookies

Making pumpkins, ghosts, owls and bats out of cheese and ham for lunch.

Going on long walks, playing I spy ghosts and jack-0-lanterns, skeletons and spiders... while the parents literally ran away.
Swinging reaaallly high! And maybe not so high.

because Kyle doesn't have time for the whole movie.

And patiently shopping. Okay maybe not so patiently shopping...but this gramma has her survival tactics. Is bribery a bad thing?

Our Octobler 7th - 11th

We had a nice visit with Gramma and Richard which included lots of music... ... a temple Session, the Logandale Bluegrass festival, Lorin, Nancy and Lars coming for dinner, Dollar store and D.I. shopping. We finished our busy weekend together attending church in Lorin's Boulder City Ward and dinner at their house.

This might be Gramma & Richard's last long road trip to visit the relatives down through Utah, Las Vegas and Arizona. Considering their age...theyr'e 80 and 86, that is totally understandable. But I keep reminding gramma...she can always fly.

Our weekend project.

We have had a bit of a pigeon problem.

Up til now Karl has taken care of the problem by screaming, throwing rocks and generally acting like a lunatic. I think the pigeons have been entertained and just kept coming back to see the show.

So this weekend he decided to try a different strategy.

After hosing off.... approximately 16 gallons of pigeon poop,

and painting the eves while he was up on the roof anyway,

He put chicken wire under the eves.


I will miss my little lunatic...but I won't miss the pigeons.

Another wonderful General Conference

I love General Conference!
Every conference the addresses just seem to get better & better.

But I admit...that second session, after a nice big lunch, cozily snuggled in around the TV can get tough. Thank goodness they are in the Ensign and accessible on LDS.org.
Happy conference reviewing and studying for the next six months!

Kimberly's on the run again

Six years ago Kimberly was visiting us here in Las Vegas and we'd gone up to St. George to watch Paul, Karl's brother and Stephanie Swanberg run in the St. George Marathon. It was the first time either us had watched a marathon . It was so exciting, you could feel the excitment in the air. And Kimberly said...we've got to run a marathon...AND SHE DID!

Kimberly ran her first marathon in June this year. Then she ran a sprint triathlon the next month. This weekend she ran her 2nd marathon in Portland. Her next big run is the Las Vegas Marathon on December 6th. But who knows...she may sneak one in before then.

She might be a little bit crazy...but we still love her.

Kudos Pam!

This article is about Jordon Honey but it is really a tribute to his mother, Pam.

Pam Honey is my niece, Karl's brother's daughter. She's an amazing person with boundless energy, enthusiasm and tenacity...especially when it comes to her boys. She was blessed with a special challenge...Jordon, he's autistic. But she met that challenge with her trademark never quit attitude. She just didn't accept what the doctors said about Jordon's fate. She did alot of research and met with alot of obstacles but kept him in public school, making sure he got the assistance that he needed and even keeping him on a special diet.

May she get many more "pay days" like this one.

Welcome Octobler !st !!!

We welcomed Octobler here in Vegas with a freezing 54° !!!
So this morning instead of opening the patio doors I pulled the quilt up.

Oh yes, and Karl covered his night stand glass of water with a tupperware lid :)
