Guess who showed up on our doorstep!

Elder Jordon Lloyd!
He is serving in our ward and doing a great job.
He's still wound up tight with all the "Lloyd" energy
But he definitely has it channeled in the right direction.
He really is one of the best elders we've had.

I know...we were amazed too!

For those that don't know the connection...Elder Lloyd is from Pasco.
Karl was his bishop when he was a super-hyper-out-of-control crazy kid.
Let just say...miracles really do happen!

Our culinary adventure

When we get together with Clark and Rachel we like to try a culinary adventure.
A lot of times it's a "interesting place" in a questionable part of the town.
but this time we decided on Hush Puppy's. Good ol' southern deep fat fried cuisine.
The Hush Puppies with honey butter....mmmmm good.
I ventured away from my usual chicken choice and got frog legs and alligator.
Karl went for catfish, claw strips, some other aquatic delicacies and collard greens.
Clark went with a platter of breaded critters.
Jake ordered his Cajun style.

Some less adventuresome folks stayed with the tried and true shrimp.
And one Canadian among us ordered grilled chicken???
(which was probably the wisest choice!)
To counteract some the the damage
Clark, Rach, Jake and Step went to a late night gym session, swimming and hot tubbing.
Karl and I...we went straight to bed.
I guess we are just old and tired.
Or maybe that is why we are old and tired:0
Happy eating.
Love,
Mom T.

Adventures with Clark & Rach

Clark & Rachel had to come to Vegas for the weekend to take an English proficiency test for travel nursing...hope they passed!

So while they were here we enjoyed... A little food
A little music
A little sewing
A little swimming
and alot of fun.
(including a few inspiring episodes of Man vs. Food).
A haircut for Clark was on the agenda
but it didn't quite happen...maybe next time:)

I survived!

I'm home from girls camp(When someone joked about the cooks needing hair nets
we pulled shower caps out of the skit box.)

(Rag rolling hair)

(tipping the Bishop over)

(My Kitchen)

(We camped at Clear Creek Ranch by the east entrance to Zions)
...and it was a blast.

Harvest

We picked all the apricots today and made jam. There weren't a whole lot...
but they were big and beautiful.

I'm home

and that feels good...except I do miss Charlie and Greta. There are so many things I wish I could do with them.

I got home late Saturday.
Sunday my young (born in the wrong era) friend Leah Claire came to stay with me for a few days while her parents were out of town. We worked on getting ready for Girl's camp.

And I'm still getting ready for Girl's Camp. I've got to finish piecing a quilt so we can tie it at camp.
Finish the shopping.
Cook the hamburger for tacos,
Chicken Gravy for Haystacks,
cook the bacon for Tator-tot breakfast
and mix the topping for apple crisp.
Pack up all the food.
Pack up my clothes and gear.
Gas up the car
Make Apricot Jam before the birds eat them all.
And be ready to go Monday morning at 7:30 am.
That's a little over two days.

Oh yes, I came home from Washington fighting a scratchy throat
...it's a full-blown miserable cold now.
But I will be better by Monday.

Life is good.
Love, Mom T.

How does my garden grow?

(Rachel, that the topsy-turvy planter you gave us.)

I love how you can make things look so much better in a photo.

Wednesday

We did a lot more of this
and this
while still trying to get more of this done. The group finally escaped the house by going to Walmart for miscellaneous supplies.
I stayed home to finish the baking
and enjoy a little quiet time:)
