Summer Kick-Off

  Happy Memorial Day.
It started with a 5K/ 10K Fun Run put on by our Stake.
Most  everyone ran the 5K (my choice of runs).
But Karl was one of the few die-hards that ran the 10K
... it just looks like he's the only one running.

 An after race photo...
wondering why I would ever post this picture.

 An after race breakfast
Tempting ...but I held out for an omelet at home:)

Next adventure
...meeting Steph at Savers for their 50% off sale.
This is becoming a Monday Holiday tradition
...so fun and rewarding.
49¢ Slurpees and subway sandwiches at the Park.
 Getting ready for water fun.
....with Grampa.
Where's Grampa?  I see his shadow.
Somebody kept getting stuck going down the slide.
Hey Grampa...Why are you so funny?

We hurried home from the park to BBQ hamburgers and hotdogs.
Somebody had signed up for the Missionaries to come for dinner.

The game plan...act hungry.
So Papa Bear made a big dutch oven of potatoes
and then grilled 10 hamburgers and 6 polish dogs.

There were 9 hamburgers and 1 polish dog left-over.
I think even the Missionaries may have had a Memorial Day Lunch appointment.
No one was very hungry!

We finished the evening with a nice walk to wear off few extra calories
and ended up dropping in on the neighbors for a fun and  relaxing visit by pool.

Welcome summer
...let the summer fun begin!

I love Kyle because...

When our kids were all at home, we had a birthday tradition of each family member saying why they loved the birthday person.  Now that we are rarely together on birthdays, this special  tradition is slipping  away.
But since Kyle just had a birthday on May 20, I thought I'd revive that old tradition.

Why we love Kyle...
He is so quick witted...love his sense of humor.
With  it he can broach most any subject or diffuse any would-be explosive situation.
He makes fitness a priority
....even though it is not quite as obvious as it once was.

He did just run  his 3rd marathon .

He works hard and is very focused.
How else would he became a reproductive endocrinologist.
He's kind of smart too.

He's a good dad.
He's a great conversationalist.
Very objective and doesn't get offended by opposing opinions.

But really I will always love him because...
he was one of my little boys.

Happy Birthday Kyle.
Sorry we didn't get to celebrate while I was there.

 Jeff's weekly bath?
 Just hanging out.
Racing to the boat...Charlie won,  Jeff coming in second and Kyle about to drown.
Another fun day in Florida.
