When Chad accepted
this new job in Boston he and Janet talked as if it was going to be an adventure for just a few years...then they would return to their beloved Florida.
But I think the truth should be known.
I've seen where Chad works...his office...his computer with the huge double moniters. The conference rooms that shout "think tanks". The dream lab/shop with numerous robots hanging in their individual work stations complete with flat-screen T.V's showing that particular robot in action.
The in-house Gym.
The game room complete with foosball and pingpong...in case the engineers need some mental diversion.
Then there's the complete kitchen and large dining room stocked with all-you-can-drink beverages...hot chocolate to soda.
I've heard about the company supplied lunch on Mondays...lunch time soccer on Thursday...group run on Tuesday.
Then he's joined the "
Recession Lunch" group... guys from his ward that meet at the nearby Costco for a cheap lunch weekly.
Chad even sent out a text...
"It's like I died and went to engineer heaven...nice office, free soda, free lunch on Mondays. lotsa smart people and super cool robots!"
Now what about Janet... will she like it there in Boston?
Well, I've been to their new ward. Brimming with young professionals... lots of young mothers... that are away from their Utah/California families. Numerous people went out of their way to welcome them and chat with them. Within hours after church they'd received several emails from different organizations filled with information...Relief Society activity schedule...fun things to do and places to visit around Boston...the new sisters "Meet & Greet".
Then there's the phone call..."we'll arrange for a sister to pick you up so you don't have drive to the activity."
Not even a week has past since their first time at church and Janet's gone to the "meet & greet", a Valentine play group party and has someone to swap babysitting with. Yeah...she's going to love it there.
The truth is...it's going to be a long and happy stay.
Boston is their new home.
I think Tobler history is repeating itself. Years ago Karl got a job offer that took us from LasVegas to Pasco,Washington. Chad was two and Kyle was 4 months. We decided it would be a fun adventure for a couple years...while the kids were small. For 25 years it was home and we loved it
...and Karl didn't even get "free" soda.
