The adventures of Walter

Walter was getting restless and trying to climb the confines of his cardboard box.

So lately he's been  going on day outings

in the garden boxes.

Happy Walter.

P.S.  We finally got a drip irrigation system put in the garden boxes.  Love it!!!
Hand watering several times was taking way too much time.

Girl's Camp minus 2 days.

Getting ready for Girl's camp has consumed my last few weeks.  It's always such a major time suck.
I always get frustrated right before camp...wondering if it is really worth it.
Two of my YW  food helpers
I'm usually in charge of the food...but with being the YW President...a few more aspects got thrown in.

But when we finally make it to camp it is always worth it
And like Child-birth...the pain of the "labor" is soon forgotten with the joy of the end product.

Our site camp was wonderful.

The girls were cooperating and getting along beautifully.
Chopping wood

The hike to the "rain tree" was great...though the wind at the top was cold and  bothersome.
Hikers resting around the 3000 year old bristlecone pine.
Our Stake Presidency's skit...hilarious!

But the weather in camp was strange...mostly just a pleasant  breeze with sudden gusts that would roll through the little canyon.
Then last night  around mid-night those sudden gust turned brutal.   We could hear them coming...then seconds later they would hit...flattening tents
and turning camps literally upside-down.  These rolled in every 10 or 15 minutes...with sometime...total calm in-between.  Luckily our flattened tents popped back up with minor damage...other camps weren't so lucky.   About 1:00 am   our large portable "car-port" structure and and EZ Up... that we had for shade or rain over our picnic tables both blew over just missing one of our tents.  We moved the totaled EZ-Up  out of the way and righted the "car-port" and lashed it to a heavy wooden picnic table.   About 3:00 am the carport went over again...taking the picnic table with it.

Our damage was minor compared to a few other camps...
But wind advisory continues for the next few days.
And so we are home...2 days early.
