Happy Mother's Day

to the two most important mothers that had a profound influence on this Tobler family.

But we just call her Gramma Palmer.

We miss our Gramma Tobler and hope she knew how much she was loved.

And Gramma Palmer...I get to pick her up at the airport tomorrow and we get to spend the next 10 days together.  It's our treasured Mom and daughter time.  She's amazing...we have so many happy memories of the times she has spent with our family....cinnamon bread,  star wars quilts,  clean windows, dancing with the boys  and jogging with Karl (and keeping up with him when she was 65).  She's slowing down a bit...at 88.  But she is still amazing.

I hope in the next ten days...she will feel how much she is loved.

Springing in to Summer?

Today 90°.
First swim of the season...
A week ago...air temperature 80° -  water temperature 84°.  Wonderful.

Here's how my garden grows...

 Snow peas...first picking tonight for stir-fry.

 Our first jalapeno

...just hanging in there until we need a little heat.

 Roma tomatoes

 Patio Tomatoes

 The last of the spinach..had lotsa spinach salads

and a lot found it's way into our morning "green drink."

 Cilantro...going to seed.   Which I will plant in this fall's garden.

 First radish from the spring planting...headed to tonight's salad.

 Summer squash for stir-fry and veggie pizza in a couple weeks. 

 Swiss Chard...Karl says he likes it...but even Walter (the turtle) won't eat the stuff.

 Apricots... looks like a good crop.

 Basil and thyme...I've dried a few small batches...hoping for more.

 Mint...Jake's favorite in lemonade.

 A Calla lily in the midst of the ivy...hoping for a bloom before the heat beats it.

 An amaryllis...
John Alderson gave it to me for Christmas in 2001. 
(really...a flower bulb made the move from Pasco!)

I'm still trying to get it to bloom again.

 

The roses are beautiful.

 

 The pansies have stayed with us surprising long this year.

 And the Jasmine.
It makes our entryway smell lovely.
Just wish it would bloom all year.
