Party Time

The Saturday after Valentines
we held our annual LV/BC family get together
Thanks to Pam for giving us a little kick to get the date set.
In years past we've done a mystery dinner but decided it was time to shake things up and do something different.  We requested that everyone dress up as someone, something or some era.
Elvis x 4.
So ALL the Boulder City folk came dressed from the from the 50's
 LasVegas folks...we were pretty random.
Whatever we could put together fast.
For entertainment everyone brought (non-board, non-card) games.
We've discovered some really great new-to-us games.
"Slip it in"  Where everyone had ackward, off-the-wall phrases that they tried to slip in to normal conversation without being noticed.  Great game when you want to still visit.
Also "Guess that slogan" and Buzzword.
Lorin, of course, brought a contraption to test one's steady hand.
The object is to  TRY to guide the eye-screw along the copper tubing without touching it.
Slip and you got a little "ZAP" from a 9 volt battery.
It was a test of nerves.
Great time!
And we've got next year's already planned.

Dogtown 9K...think k9

Today was a day of firsts...
Karl's first time running a race longer than a 5K
His first time running with his younger brother Paul.
Pre-race

Final Stretch
Now Paul is a runner...a numerous marathon not-happy-if-I-can't-go-running runner.
Karl is a wannabe...maybe someday I'll do a half-marathon runner.
So Paul decided to give up a sure first-place run to run along with Karl.
At some points he would even run backwards coaching Karl as they ran.
 9K = 5.6 miles
Finish Time: 53:39 minutes
Pace:  9:53 minutes mile

Two first place finishes in their respective age groups.
Ahhh....another first.

Backyard Friend

We rediscovered this guy Saturday when we were in the backyard pruning and cleaning up for Spring. I'm sure we'd seen him last year but Saturday we discovered he's quite docile.

As we were busy cleaning up leaves and branches we'd get within a few feet of him and expect him to ran off...but no... he'd just sit on the wall...in plain sight ...watching us.  He never did scurry off.

Sunday we were enjoying the sunshine in the backyard and this guy was scooting around in the bark chips around the garden beds.

Today while I was watering the garden...he was back on the wall a few feet away watching me.

Strange behavior for a lizard.  Does he trust us?  Is he the same lizard we rescued out of Karl's coffee-brew roach traps last year?  Hmmmm.  Maybe it's still chilly enough that he's running alittle slow.

But for what ever reason we enjoy spotting him in the yard.   But he better not trust the neighborhood cats or we'll be missing our backyard friend.
