Mom Tobler on the Cheap

The other day my thrifty nature and my need-to-be-organized nature came together and now my heart is happy.

For more than several years I've pondered on putting additional shelving in a few of my cupboards. I'd looked at/priced shelving at Home Depot but couldn't bring my to myself to spend the [too much] money on shelving that wasn't going to match the existing shelving. [I could only find white laminate covered particle board, plastic coated wire or real wood].
But it's in the cupboard...it won't matter. So my mental debate went.

Once again procrastination or patience paid-off.

A few weeks ago I noticed that a neighbor was throwing away a small white laminate coated shelf unit [dismantled out on the curb with the garbage]. So I just gingerly walked down...measured the shelves... picked up the 3 shelves and walked happily home. [Karl tries to keep me away from others people garbage...but he was at work].

The shelving still doesn't match my birch colored laminate shelves...but when it is FREE and inside a cupboard... suddenly I'm totally alright with that.

So the other day when I had mile-long list of "to-dos"
...I ignored the list and pulled out the chop saw and the drill. My favorite tool in the garage.
Really...I love it.

And ta-da.

Awe, the joy-to-my-heart and the organization-to-my-cupboards
that a few feet of additional shelving made.
[Sorry I don't have the before pictures...But you can just imagine. It wasn't pretty.]
It's garbage day today...maybe I should just go take a walk :)

I love you! I love everything about that story but especially that it ends on trash day and you want to take a walk!!! Your cupboards look marvelous. In the pictures you can't even tell the shelves don't match. Good job.
