Every Fall I get together with my brothers, my mom, and a few spouses and for what has evolved into the Sibling Reunion. It use to be a full-fledged rip-roarin' Palmer Reunion, but kids grew up and nests got empty. Families scattered and the gathering logistics on a yearly basis just got too overwhelming. So just the original siblings get together...it's quiet...but that's good...we are all getting old and kind of tired.
As usual we gathered in Provo at my brother Craig's home. Because it's extremely large, centrally located between the Idaho folks and the Vegas folks. And it's an empty nest.
The main objective of the reunion is to EAT, visit, EAT, visit, EAT and we try to avoid anything that might interfere with that objective.

For the most part we succeeded pretty well.

But few other activities crept into our schedule.
A few of us hiked the "Y"

Some of us hiked higher than others.

Then we had what we called
"Training Sessions"Gramma taught how to make Zucchini Pizza.
Brent..."how to stay warm while winter camping"

and showed his design of the unbreakable, leak proof camping hot water bottle.

Craig taught how to make fire starters.

I did "how to make chocolate popcorn."
Not because anyone needed training on such a simple thing...
but I knew the end product would be highly appreciated.

Lorin's was something about measuring solar energy...I think. I'm usually lost and confused the moment Lorin starts to explain anything technical.

Amy showed how to set a broken leg when in a remote and emergency situation.
And Gary...he explained how to use the public transit system in Paris.
We showed a lot of slides and caught up on each others families.
Saturday night the local kids (BYU students and a few that had settled in near-by parts) gathered to visit...and EAT.
Dustin (Craig's son and family genealogist) gave a presentation on why we are really not Palmer but (genetically) Hobbie. (an interesting and recently discovered fact.)
Sunday...we continued to EAT...before and after church.

We tried to consume all the left-overs...but we weren't entirely successful.
Maybe we'll do better next year.
We already have it planned...same place, same time...EAT and Visit.

Craig's in charge.

And mom (a.k.a. Gramma Palmer) She's the real motivation for the Sibling Reunion.
We love her!
