Happy Anniversary to us

On our 35th anniversary ...we went to my nephew, Brandon's wedding.

(My Brother Lorin, sister-in law Nancy, and Sean)

And then we did the buffet for it.Our taco bar specialty.Karl's nephew, Bill, was the DJ and we found time to enjoy quite a few dances.
(But I didn't have the time to take many photos...to which I regret)

It was a fun party...A nice way to celebrate 35 years together.

Today is special...

because it's Janet's Birthday.
And in keeping with Tobler tradition...
We love Janet because:
She's talentedAlways ready to jump in and have fun.Whatever the occasion...Janet makes it more fun.
She's adventuresome

She's a good Mom
(and she produces beautiful children)She's a good example...Always dressing modestly...even at the beach:D

And she's beautiful too.

Janet has been voted the
Sweetest, nicest, most thoughtful, most generous Tobler. She's always thinking of and doing what's best for the other person and the Tobler Family.

And that's why we love Janet!
We are so glad you were brave and joined this Tobler family.
We love you. Hugs!

Chad, You moved us to action

Dear Chad,
Thanks to your do-it-yourself spirit, your sense of daring adventure and realizing that the worst case scenario would be being without water for a weekend...it motivated us to go for it. You'll be so proud.

Dad did it...no plumber needed. And it was quite a simple job. The research on-line and the drive to the plumbing store took 20 times longer than the actual job...which took just minutes. And we probably saved $150.00 or more doing it ourselves.

Ahhhh....it's so pleasant to turn on the water now!
No more irritating, nerve grating pipe noise.
We now have a new pressure reducer value.
It makes ya' wonder why it took us two years to finally fix it?

Gotta go...Dad is tearing out the kitchen faucet. You may have started something.

Love, Mom T.

Mom Tobler on the Cheap

The other day my thrifty nature and my need-to-be-organized nature came together and now my heart is happy.

For more than several years I've pondered on putting additional shelving in a few of my cupboards. I'd looked at/priced shelving at Home Depot but couldn't bring my to myself to spend the [too much] money on shelving that wasn't going to match the existing shelving. [I could only find white laminate covered particle board, plastic coated wire or real wood].
But it's in the cupboard...it won't matter. So my mental debate went.

Once again procrastination or patience paid-off.

A few weeks ago I noticed that a neighbor was throwing away a small white laminate coated shelf unit [dismantled out on the curb with the garbage]. So I just gingerly walked down...measured the shelves... picked up the 3 shelves and walked happily home. [Karl tries to keep me away from others people garbage...but he was at work].

The shelving still doesn't match my birch colored laminate shelves...but when it is FREE and inside a cupboard... suddenly I'm totally alright with that.

So the other day when I had mile-long list of "to-dos"
...I ignored the list and pulled out the chop saw and the drill. My favorite tool in the garage.
Really...I love it.

And ta-da.

Awe, the joy-to-my-heart and the organization-to-my-cupboards
that a few feet of additional shelving made.
[Sorry I don't have the before pictures...But you can just imagine. It wasn't pretty.]
It's garbage day today...maybe I should just go take a walk :)
