Christmas in the making

 ...on the cheap.
Found a holly garland at a yard sale in summer
...wasn't sure what I'd do with it but I knew the red berries would be useful.
Dismantled it and put it back together this way.
Next year it might be something different.
Now we just need snow.

Growing Confusion

It may be time for Winter Wonderland and Frosty the Snowman
but my garden thinks it's spring.
I harvested my first kale leaves this morning for our green smoothie
Our broccoli that just barely survived summer and some hungry bug is now revived and is starting to "head-out"
Peas and beets up and thriving
 The Roma tomatoes are loaded.
We've been snipping away at our new pot of Cilantro for several days.
And there are some beautiful peppers.
Merry Christmas!!

Another Favorite Christmas Movie

.
We just discovered this movie and we're adding it to our favorite Christmas movies list.
Not a good movies for small children.  It is about war and has few disturbing scenes and is intense at moments.   But also very heartwarming.  It makes you think about your own integrity and if it would  hold up  in life threatening circumstances.  Makes you feel very grateful.

Very Similar to this movie...also on our favorite Christmas movie list.

I alway try to time my Netflix so we have this one really close to or on Christmas.   Probably a more  realistic view of what Mary and Joseph may have gone through and the lowliness of the birth.

Some of our "unexpected" old Christmas favorites

Mixed Nuts
...crazy, off the wall and dysfunctional.. poor ratings.
So why do we like it?.

Christmas Vacation...so funny.
We really preferred our recorded off of TV edited version.
The boys still quote lines from it.

The Christmas Card.
A feel good Hallmark movie ...so predictable...kind of cheezy
but there is something about it that Karl and I really like

And of course

Little Women .

But I'm always on the search for another Christmas Favorite to add to my list.

Check off the bucket list

For years I've wanted a bike and to go bike riding on all the trails around Vegas and St. George.
About a year ago Karl and Chad found me a bike at D.I.  Just what I wanted...a cheap trial bike...to see if we'd really go riding before we spent the big bucks.
While Chad was here in September he put a trailer hitch on our little car...Thank you Chad.
A month ago we ordered a bike carrier. Thank you Amazon.

Today we loaded up the bikes and went for the maiden journey with the bike carrier (love it)
to the River Mountain trail loop.
A 35 mile loop the runs along Boulder City, Lake Mead and Lake Las Vegas.  We did about 4 miles of it (8 miles total)...the Railroad Pass to Boulder City stretch.
We were expecting a leisure bike ride...WRONG.  This was a serious workout ...continual  hills.   I now understand and appreciate 21 speeds...I used 14 of them constantly.  And I must say...the gears on my secondhand cheap bike worked a lot smoother than someone elses much more expensive bike.
I really appreciated my brakes...both of them.   I got a little  nervous and about "bit it" a few time on some steep grades with hairpin turns.   I did see Karl out peddling around in the rocks...acting like  he intended to be there, saying something about "run away bike".
Nevada Southern Railway excursion train
Soon to be the Santa Train.
Nothing says serious biker like a fountain drink in the basket.
River Mountains trail...we will be back.
But next on the Bucket list...the St. George Trails.

Gotta love the Dollar Tree

A battery operated Nose Hair Trimmer.
Our  lives are now safer.

From now on someone (who will remain un-named) will no longer be able to pull  old-man nose hairs while driving
...Sneezing fits while driving can be so dangerous.

Thank you Dollar Tree.

Our night of Frights

WELCOME!
Cutest Bat Baby ever!
I think I found the Wicked Witch
Who are you and what have you done with my mom?
Visitors from the latest Batman movie
Always safe with Grampa
Eerie apparitions would come and go throughout the night...

Choose your friends wisely.
This Ol' Cron kept hanging around.
Don't text and fly

Our night was filled with greeting little goblins, roasting hotdogs and exploring the neighborhood's Frightful places.
Hope your night was filled with fun Frights too.
