for his 37th birthday.

Chad was born in St. George, even though we lived in Las Vegas. It was far cheaper in those days to have babies delivered in St.George and we didn't have insurance. He cost us a whopping $600.00. And that was paid for by a couple pigs and a calf that my father bought for me (investment of some wedding money) and then sold them just when we needed the money. (Let's see, does that make Chad a one-cow, two-pig son?)
Chad was (and still is) the perfect first child. Life and choices were always "Black and White," and Right or Wrong" to him, and he believed everyone should always do what's right.
When he was 7 or 8 years old, he was struggling with some math concept and was very frustrated. He was even more frustrated when we tried to help. It was time for family prayers so Karl asked Chad to offer the prayer and suggested that he ask Heavenly Father to help him with his math.
Chad said the prayer but didn't pray about his math dilemma. When we asked "Chad, Why didn't you ask Heavenly Father to help you with your math?"
Tears welled up in his eyes as he replied "That would be cheating."
Some of Chad's favorites things:
Planning his Halloween Costume.
Of course, we got him started very young.
One of my favorites was the year he was Pinnochio...
taking advantage of his short stature.
(Still searching for that photo)
As you can see, Chad's little family still loves planning Halloween costumes each year...It's a big deal!
Another love was his hair...
When he was 16, he decided to do an "old man" cut.
He said if I don't do it now I"ll never do it...so he did.
The very next day he went to church and played the piano for Priesthood meeting. Oh how the old men were laughing and pointing when they noticed his new "do".
Senior year he grew his hair out all one length almost to his chin. Oh how he LOVED his hair! He just loved the feel of it. He'd swing his head so the hair would swing out and run his finger through it saying "I love my hair."

We finally convinced him to cut his hair to a "normal" length...but he left a tassel of long braided hair that came out of the top of his head and hung down to his chin. (I'm still searching for a picture of that.)
Chad loves to Dance
(especially Salsa)
A talent that he really developed and refined during his college years.
(Practicing his moves with Clark)
It served him well...it helped him meet and snag his beautiful "salsa-dancin'" wife.
Happy Birthday Chad
Hope you get to do a little dancin' tonight...
