The time between our coming home from Kansas City and the arrival of Chad and Janet's family to visit us in Vegas was tight...less than 24 hour. They would leave the kids with us less then 24 hours later and fly to San Diego to visit Trace and his family and their new home.
But...
Thanks to Spirit Airlines we had a 2 hour delay after we boarded our 8:30pm departing flight. Computers down so they couldn't even file their flight plan...so we just sat their for an hour-plus. Then the crew announced that those that wanted to get off the plane could but take all their luggage with them.
Even though we had only traveled with backpack it seem like too much hassle just to wait at the gate area. But enough people got off to allow Karl and I to find a empty row to sit together a talk while we waited (yes, we didn't even have seats together).
Finally our flight took off. I ended up with a window seat by two 9 year old boys. Originally I had an aisle seat by one of the boys parents but the need to sit by another younger child changed our seats. It was both boys first flights. One was so excited he kept asking me if we were off the ground yet. The other was so scared he was holding hands with his dad across the aisle saying "Don't say that" (that we were off the ground) over and over.
Once in the air we all fell asleep and it was best flight ever...totally conked out until they announced that we were preparing for landed in Las Vegas.
But we didn't get home until after 1am Vegas time.
Of course we slept in, Karl went to work late and I spent the day going like crazy to get ready for Chad and Janet's arrival at 10:30ish that night.
But thanks to bad weather Chad and Janet's flight kept getting delayed and delayed...final Spirit just cancel the flight (the pilots flying hours had expired). Chad, being a quick thinker hopped over to another Spirit gate counter that had no line and quickly got his family on a departing Spirit flight to San Diego.
Plan B. Chad's whole family would go to San Diego and we would hopefully see them on Saturday morning.
