Home Tired Home

The happy little family is home.

But with Jake's crazy schedule ( study, work. class, study) he's not home much.  So I've been  spending time (a lot) at their house filling their fridge, some cleaning, a little reassuring, keeping company and maybe just a little baby cuddling.
We've also been trying to get a few (hundred) newborn photos
This is what Ethnie thought about it...
REALLY guys ... it's cold in here
"Okay, I'm really getting tired of all this."
 "Really tired"
 "Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

So who has the dominate genes?

This may be an unequal comparison
since I don't have a newborn photo of Steph.
But...
Baby "E"
 Baby "E"

Baby "J"
Baby "J"

Baby "S"
Baby "S"

That double chin and those marshmallow cheeks
...might have been inherited from someone.

Signs of Spring

It's cold today... 52°even with the sun is shining.   But in spite if the temperature there are signs of Spring.
The bees are loving the Rosemary.
The flowering plum is just starting to burst.
Our Spring garden is just waiting to be set out in the boxes.
But our winter garden is just getting to it's prime.
The snow peas are really just starting to produce and the beets are ready to harvest.  Karl claims to love beet greens and he has a bunch to munch.  Me...I make no claim on greens.
The broccoli is just starting to head.
The lettuce, kale and spinach have been finding their way
into our morning "Green Drinks"  and salads for several months
The Swiss Chard is waiting for Karl.
And the Cilantro is really kickin' in...
So Karl decided to make his favorite Cilantro Lime Dressing.
He likes to use it for dipping chips.
I think we'll do tacos salads for lunch.

Happy President's Day!

Late last night I taped this to Karl's bathroom mirror.

This morning this was taped to my mirror.

We're romantic like that.

Mystery Dinner

A couple weeks ago Clare's Clan was doing their annual planning
and decided it would be fun to do another mystery dinner
...at our house.
Since I love to attempt to put on a fancy shindig...we were game.

This time we tried a new arrangement
...and changed the rooms around.
Dinner in the Great Room...Living Room in the Dining room.
This also helped with my spring cleaning since it meant the floors would get vacuumed under the couches and in the corners
 Everyone pitched in...

Karl even strung lights along the sidewalk

Steph put the finishing touches on the table....Beautiful!

 Then the guests arrived
Yep...that's a tux that Karl's sportin'  It was a black tie affair.
(Plus we found this amazing tux at Desert Industries)

Karl mixed Italian Sodas for starters
Then the guests took a minute to study their characters...

Lorin's character...Eddie ("Socks") R. Gyle
 Menu:
Soup:  Zuppa Tuscana
Salad:  one of Nancy's amazing green salads
Entree; Chicken Cordon Bleu / Garlic mashed potatoes
Dessert:  That layered pudding dessert that has a dozen different names

Nancy was wearing an amazing hat
...how did that get cut out of the picture?

And the murderer was...
the sweet innocent acting Steph!

 Cheers to a great evening!
